About the Series

Superheroes are every where, even if they don’t have gadgets and capes. The Muslim women in this series are testimony to the fact that Muslim women are brave, wise and strong and have changed history with the power of their work for as long as history itself.

Since 1400 years they have been curing the sick, building havens of learning, strengthening and steering communities, leading armies and empowering nations with the power of their spoken word, pen, will power and brains!

Keep a look out for more books in the series!

“Look forward to building the full collection”

Fiza Asar’s book “A Tale of Maryam’s Strength” is a well narrated story of Mother Mary, and how she has inspired women and men alike through the ages. The book is beautifully illustrated by Tehreem Iqbal which makes it ideal as a fun teaching tool for young children. As parents grapple with how best to present young children and particularly girls, with inspiring models of strength and character, Maryam’s Tale will serve as an engaging tool to tell the story. I am thrilled to learn this is designed to be first of a series of books that will present Muslim heroes of character. Parents of young children should look forward to building the full collection.

“Refreshingly simple and straight-forward style”

Throughout the history of mankind, innumerable women have played their roles as
superheroes, but despite it women have been typecast in popular narratives as weak and
powerless. This is more so in a patriarchal society like ours. It is therefore wonderful that “A
Tale of Maryam’s Strength” – the first book written by Fiza Asar in the “Amazing Muslim Super
Heroes” series subverts the stereotype image of Muslim women. Delightfully illustrated by
Tehreem Iqbal, this is a story about Bibi Maryam (AS) who, as a single mother brings up baby
Eisa, who is none other than the chosen Prophet of Allah. Written in rhyme, the story is told in a
refreshingly simple and straightforward style, making the book a charming addition to a child’s
library. Looking forward to see many more strong, dynamic and diverse Muslim sheroes in this
series.

“Charming book, cleverly written and beautifully illustrated…”

Of the many things I’ve had the privilege to learn from Pakistan and Pakistanis over the years, among the most heartening is the crucial roles played there, and in many other countries, by strong and resourceful Muslim women. This charming book, cleverly written by Fiza Asar and beautifully illustrated by Tehreem Iqbal, presents perhaps the greatest of all role models for the next generation of Muslim girls. We all need for them to heed Maryam’s example.
